Stephanie Gibson says her mission is to teach young athletes to love the sport of volleyball, build self esteem in young women, and use their volleyball experiences to manufacture their life skills. Coach Gibson is currently a Physical Education Teacher, and Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Winter Park High School. She has been the varsity coach at Winter Park High School (2000-Present) and Miami Sunset (1989-1999). In 36 years of coaching, Gibson has compiled a career record of 871-238. Gibson’s teams advanced to the FHSAA 33 of 36 seasons. Her teams have won 22 conference titles, 25 District Titles, 14 Regional titles, 3 State Runners Up, and 10 State Championship Titles. Gibson has been named Florida Dairy Farmer Coach of the Year in 1995, 2004, 2005, 2013, and 2024, and has received this honor more than any coach in FHSAA history. She has twice been selected to coach the FACA State All-Star Game, and has been named Metro-Conference Coach of the year 12 times. Gibson was a NHSACA National Finalist for Coach of the Year in 2006, 2014, and 2024. She has served eleven terms with the FHSAA Volleyball Advisory Committee. She was named AVCA National Coach of the Year for High School Volleyball. Coach Gibson was inducted into the FHSAA Hall of Fame in September of 2024. 

In 1989, she took over as the director of the South Florida Volleyball Club, and held that position for twelve years. She has been a travel team coach with OTVA for 24 years. Her teams have qualified for the Junior National Championships 23 times. Gibson earned a bronze medal in 2010 USA Volleyball. Her 2009 and 2010 teams won back to back AAU National Championship titles for 14’s and 15’s. Additionally, her team finished with a bronze medal in 2015 (15’s), 2016 (17’s), and 2018 (13’s) in the AAU National Championships. Gibson is CAP 1 and Safe Sport Certified. 

In addition to her coaching experience, Gibson also played on the collegiate level in two sports, Volleyball and Softball. Coach Gibson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Florida International University, while competing on the Volleyball and Softball Teams.
