Tanya Jarvis Starrett serves as both the Director of Advancement and the Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Bishop Moore Catholic High School. Over nearly two decades, she has distinguished herself as a leader in both educational development and athletics, playing a pivotal role in shaping the school’s culture, community, and success.
As Head Girls Volleyball Coach for 14 seasons, Tanya has built one of the most respected programs in Florida. Her teams have compiled an impressive overall record of 311–81 and captured four state championships. Her coaching achievements have been recognized at the highest levels. She has been named 5A Coach of the Year four times and was honored as the Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year, an award that acknowledges the top high school coach across all classifications in the state.
In her role as Director of Advancement, Tanya oversees all aspects of fundraising, alumni relations, donor engagement, and school-wide development efforts. She has led initiatives that deepen the school’s philanthropic mission while building meaningful relationships with the broader Bishop Moore community. Her leadership in advancement is rooted in her connection to the school as a 2001 alumna and Hall of Fame inductee.
Tanya is also an accomplished former athlete, having been named one of the Top 100 Greatest Female Athletes in the history of the University of Central Florida. Her competitive background and dedication to high standards continue to inform her coaching and mentoring of young athletes. Her impact extends well beyond the court. She is often invited to speak at student events and school ceremonies, where she encourages young people to lead with kindness, purpose, and integrity.
In addition to her work at Bishop Moore, Tanya has coached at national-level events such as the UA Next All-America Volleyball Match, where she mentors elite student-athletes from around the country. She is known for forming lasting relationships within the volleyball community and for her commitment to the long-term development of the athletes she coaches.
Tanya’s dedication to her students, athletes, and school community is marked by humility, consistency, and deep personal investment. She often reflects on her nearly 20 years of service to Bishop Moore as not just a career, but a calling.
